Inshore waters between Cape Kidnappers and Portland Island.

Situation:

A ridge of high pressure over the country moves north today as northwesterlies strengthen over the South Island ahead of an approaching front. The front moves north reaching central New Zealand late Thursday, followed by a disturbed west to southwesterly flow, while a weak trough affects the upper North Island. The front crosses the North Island on Friday and a ridge builds over the South Island. The ridge should spread onto the North Island on Saturday.
