Area Description:

The Bay of Islands and inshore waters from Cape Brett to the Poor Knights Islands to Bream Head.

Situation:

A series of cold fronts move up the North Island on Friday as a ridge of high pressure begins to develop to the south. This ridge persists across the country through to Monday, apart from another front which dissipates quickly over the lower South Island early Saturday.

Friday: Northerly 10 knots, rising to northwest 15 knots early morning, easing to westerly 10 knots late morning. Then riding to southwest 15 knots this afternoon. Sea slight. Poor visibility in showers, easing this afternoon. Possible morning and afternoon thunderstorms. Northeast swell 1 metre, rising to 1.5 metres.

Outlook until midnight Monday: Saturday: Southwest 15 knots, turning southerly 15 knots early. Fine. Northeast swell 1.5 metres, easing to 1 metre. Sunday: Southerly 10 knots, turning easterly 10 knots early. Fine. Northeast swell 1 metre. Monday: Easterly 20 knots. Fine, a few showers developing later. Northeast swell 1 metre, rising to 1.5 metres.
